Tragically, Horse of the Year Saint Liam died after serving only a year at stud. The offspring of this late-developer where not expected to be precocious, but with his first crop two-year-olds of 2009 he has at least one horse who might extend his legacy. click here to read more….

Well, he would say that wouldn’t he? That to paraphrase – and give a popular misrendering of – a famous saying is probably the cynics reaction to our contention that professional pedigree research is an essential element of a consistently successful breeding operation. From personal experience, I know that keeping up with pedigree trends, and the latest major winners is a near full-time job, even when specializing this kind of work. Therefore, it’s not generally a reasonable expectation that farm managers and racehorse breeders will as be pedigree specialists. Thus, our contention that planning matings is a role where professional consultation is very important, just as are other matters usual dealt with by outside contractors, such as veterinary and farrier services. click here to read more….

Tiznow’s current two-year-olds are from the first crop sired following a freshman year that was highlighted by Folklore’s victory in the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I). Since Folklore was out of a mare by Storm Cat, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that breeders with good Storm Cat mares were going to beat a path to Tiznow’s door in 2006.

Graded stakes winning sprinter, Noonmark has been retired and will stand at Sequel Stallions at Keane Stud, near Amenia, New York. Noonmark will be first stallion for a new Sequel partnership consisting of principals Becky Thomas and Denis Narlinger along with prominent breeders Chester Broman, Tony Grey, and Lewis Lakin. He will be co-managed by Becky Thomas and Chris Bernhard of Hidden Lake Farm. The deal was brokered by Pedigree Consultants, LLC. click here to read more….
