TALE OF LOVE SALUTES IN INGLIS PREMIER RACE

Byron Rogers

Tale of Love Yesterday at Caulfield Tale of Love, bred in partnership by yours truly and my Dad, saluted in the A$250,000 Inglis Premier Juvenile. It was not a stakes race, but worth plenty to the winner and she looks a filly of some potential. Djel D’Amour has a filly foal by Southern Image, is in foal to Host (Chi) and returns to Tale of the Cat in 2009.

My Dad also featured as the co-breeder of the improving Road to Rock who firmed in betting for the Australian Cup gr. I next week.

STRIKE RATE – EXCHANGE RATE PROVING A PROPHECY

Alan Porter

Good stallions can make wise men of us all, and that is what might be happening with Exchange Rate.

A few years ago we wrote an article about pedigree trends to come. One we suggest would be the combination of three-quarters relatives bred on the Mr. Prospector/Buckpasser cross, notably Seeking the Gold, Woodman, Miswaki and Mining.

Exchange Rate  began his career in Florida, but earned a move to Three Chimneys Farm with a relatively inexpensively sired first four crops that have now produced 19 stakes winners, including grade one winners Ermine and Swap Fliparoo. Exchange Rate is out of a mare by Seeking the Gold, and has so far sired Southern Exchange (dam by Woodman), a two time stakes winner at two in Canada, and fourth in the Del Mar Futurity (gr. I); Bereba (dam by Miswaki), a stakes winner who also took third in the First Lady Handicap (gr. III); and R Brown Sugar (dam by Woodman), who recently took the Darley Ocala Breeders’ Sale Sprint, all with three-quarters relatives 3 x 2.

UNBRIDLED ON SONG

Alan Porter

It’s no secret that Unbridled’s Song has long been one of America’s leading sires, but way he has started this season indicates that he may be launching a bid to become something more than that.

With the year only eight weeks old, he’s already been represented by six stakes winners, and has two other very exciting horses yet to run in stakes competition. Particularly strong is his three-year-old line-up. The ostensible leader of that group is last year’s Champion Two-Year-Old Midshipman. He’s yet to start this year, but is pointing towards the UAE Derby (gr. II) at the end of March, with one start beforehand. Another Unbridled’s Song, Old Fashioned went to the top of many people’s Derby list last year with his Remsen Stakes (gr. II) waltz. He did nothing to weaken his standing on his reappearance, taking the Southwestern Stakes (gr. III) by 3¼ lengths from another Unbridled’s Song colt, Silver City, himself already a stakes winner sprinting this season. click here to read more….

TALE OF LOVE – ONE FOR THE HOME TEAM

Byron Rogers

Don’t worry, hopefully this isn’t going to become a common post, but I thought that it was a good chance to mention once again how well Tale of the Cat is doing at stud in Australia and also congratulate the team around the two-year-old filly Tale of Love (Aus), who won a $50,000 Inglis bonus for winning at Mornington on Wednesday.
