EXCHANGE RATE DUO DOMINATE CANADIAN JUVENILES

Alan Porter

Hot young sire Exchange Rate has a lock on the Canadian juvenile form this year with Southern Exchange and Juliet’s Spirit. The colt, Southern Exchange, has a three-for-three record, including wins in the Victoria Stakes and Colin Stakes. Juliet’s Spirit is also undefeated in the three starts, including the My Dear Stakes, and most recently, on August 16, the Ontario Debutante Stakes.

Southern Exchange, who is rated A by TrueNicks is out of the Woodman mare Miss Madeleine. This gives Southern Exchange an intriguing pedigree pattern as Woodman – by Mr. Prospector out of a Buckpasser mare – is bred on an identical cross to Seeking the Gold, the broodmare sire of Exchange Rate. He’s also one of four stakes winners sired by Exchange Rate out of Mr. Prospector line mares, the others including graded winners Exchanger and Rated Fiesty.

Juliet’s Spirit is out of the Farma Way mare, Juliet’s Way, and is TrueNicks rated A+ on the Danzig/Farma Way cross. From only four foals out of Farma Way mares Exchange Rate has sired four winners, including Juliet’s Spirit, listed stakes placed Madonna Mia and multiple allowance winner Preciousness.

Recently relocated from Padua Farm in Florida, Exchange Rate looks to benefit from the better quality mares that he is now receiving at his new home Three Chimneys Farm.
